The University Board has decided that a Recruitment Committee is to be appointed with the task of drafting proposals for both the Vice-Chancellor and deputy vice-chancellor. The Committee consists of eight members, of whom four are appointed by the University Board and four by the Electoral College. The membership is personal and reflects the University’s breadth with representation from the teaching staff, non-academic staff and students, and also includes external members.
“I want the work of the Recruitment Committee to be permeated by openness, impartiality and respect. My focus is on open and clear communication,” says Ingrid Petersson, the chair of the University Board and Recruitment Committee.
The University Board has appointed the following members, including the chair:
- Ingrid Petersson, chair
- Sara Ek, teaching staff representative
- Pernilla Johansson, external member
- Anton Silverbern, student representative
The Electoral College has appointed the following members according to a decision by the College on 13 May 2025:
- Gabriella Nilsson, teaching staff representative
- Tomas Brage, teaching staff representative
- Mårten Sommelius, non-academic staff representative
- Teo Houmann, student representative
Representatives from the employee organisations and two officers (of whom one with HR expertise) are included in the Committee and have the right to be present, make statements and put forward proposals.
“The composition of the Recruitment Committee feels very good. We have a broad representation of teaching staff, researchers and students from within the University but also external representatives, who will contribute different perspectives. It’s a good mix. I know some of them but not all. I will meet all the committee members at the first meeting on 1 October,” says Ingrid Petersson.
The Recruitment Committee is now starting its work on producing a detailed plan for the recruitment of the Vice-Chancellor and deputy vice-chancellor. The assignment includes formulating person specifications, processing applications, interviewing candidates and conducting consultations with the Electoral College.
The Recruitment Committee is also tasked with taking particular account of gender equality aspects and for providing information on, and establishing support for, the work in their respective groups.
