IT updates: proposals for IT remit and strong authentication for Microsoft 365

A person typing on a keyboard.

Strong authentication will be required as of 15 October for the entire Microsoft 365 package, which includes Outlook, Teams and Copilot. Tips on problems with Freja+. The report on the Division of IT has been completed.

Strong authentication for email and other commonly used program

As of 15 October, strong authentication applies for the entire Microsoft 365 package. This covers both online services, such as Teams, and the online workplace m365.cloud.microsoft, which includes Outlook and Copilot, and the program apps you have installed, e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Your computer may recognise your Microsoft 365 log in for a while, so there could be a delay, a few weeks in some cases, before you notice this change.

If you have not obtained strong authentication, do it now. More than 8,000 staff members and associates of the University already have it in place.

Is Freja not working? Remember to configure Passport

Servicedesk is receiving a lot of questions concerning not being able to get strong authentication to work. If you have got Freja+ and still cannot get it working, you can do this:

Follow these steps:

Confirm in the Freja+ app that you are linked to Lund University, so that you obtain an employee eID. You do this by connecting your Freja+ to your LU account in the Passport app.

If you do not have an employee eID for Lund University but Freja+ is displayed at the top of the app, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to passport.lu.se (select the English flag in the upper corner)
  2. Click on the I am user menu and log in.
  3. Select Configure strong authentication and follow the instructions to configure Freja+.

Freja+ can now be used with your LU account for logging in to those online services at the University that now require it.

Read the guides and other useful information: Strong authentication

Have you configured correctly?

Visit freja.it.lu.se and follow the instructions for “Test strong authentication”.

Click on Start test to get an answer. (Applies to Freja+.)

Report puts forward proposals on IT remit

In the spring, the university director set up an investigation to obtain a current assessment of the Division of IT and review its remit. The investigators’ final report has now been completed. Among the proposals in the report is a strengthening of university-wide governance concerning IT and digitalisation. The investigators also propose measures to enhance expertise. An action plan based on the proposals is now being developed by the university director.
