Recruitment of Vice-Chancellor and deputy vice-chancellor 2025-2026
It is that time again!
Being Vice-Chancellor

“Being the Vice-Chancellor of Lund University is consistently stimulating and a lot of work!
You enter a multitude of contexts, locally, nationally and internationally, and you lead an institution that is significant for society.
New knowledge, students, colleagues and everything in Lund, an attractive environment for more and more international students and researchers.”
Göran Bexell, Vice-Chancellor of Lund University 2003-2008.

“Being Vice-Chancellor was demanding and challenging but also meaningful and joyful in the teamwork and relations, external and internal, that the role entails. We succeeded in improving the student accommodation situation and were involved in the processes that led to the establishment of MAX IV, ESS and Medicon Village in Lund.
A world-class University that understands, explains and improves our world and the human condition was our vision.”
Per Eriksson, Vice-Chancellor of Lund University 2009-2014.

“Academic freedom contributes to creativity and critical fact monitoring, which strengthens democracy in times when those in power often adapt facts to their political agenda. At the University, knowledge is created and disseminated by creative, critical and truth-seeking individuals. The knowledge gathered is limitless, often beyond filter bubbles and bias. It was a privilege to lead such an organisation. I miss the challenges, colleagues and students. But most of all, I miss being a part of a significant context.”
Torbjörn von Schantz, Vice-Chancellor of Lund University 2015-2020.
