Cyberattack against system supplier

Lund University was informed on Monday 25 August that the system supplier Miljödata AB had been subjected to a cyberattack at the weekend.

Miljödata supplies the Adato system to Lund University. The system is mainly used to document and process rehabilitation cases.

To limit the attack, Miljödata has isolated its systems. This means that their customers cannot use Adato at the moment. On Tuesday, Miljödata stated: “At present, we can see no signs that data  has been stolen as part of the attack. The investigation is ongoing.” The company has engaged external expertise to investigate the incident and to restore affected systems.

Lund University takes this incident very seriously, as Adato contains personal data on all  employees at the University, as well as documentation linked to rehabilitation investigations and sick leave. In accordance with procedure, the University has therefore reported the incident to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection. Lund University will be following developments and take appropriate measures where necessary.
