Exhibition about Lund University at the Historical Museum

Photo from the exhibition.

A new exhibition, Lund University – History and Stories have opened at the Historical Museum. More than 350 years of LU’s history will be painted with broad brush strokes, and some of the University’s finest treasures will be on show.

The exhibition will be on the ground floor in the museum’s areas for temporary shows. In the larger Althin room, the presentation will be somewhat chronological, with a recurring feature being the illustrated fictional students produced in connection with the University’s 350th anniversary. They give life to characteristics of the different eras in the University’s history.

The smaller Treasury room tells the story of the University’s origins, and also displays the University’s regalia when not in use – the Vice-Chancellor’s chain, the silver sceptres and the keys. In the other rooms there will also be signs linking the University to the theme of that room.

The exhibition focuses for the most part on the older history of the University. Due to a lack of space, the enormous developments at all levels that have taken place over the last century can only be described in the most general terms.

The Historical Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 12:00 to 17:00, and Thursday from 12:00 to 20:00 (closed on Monday).
