Telia is our new telephony provider
From 1 April 2026, Telia will be the University's new telephony provider. The contract is for four years, with the option to renew one year at a time (for a maximum of eight years in total).
The procurement may affect you as an employee, especially if you have a landline. Information will be published in LU News, so that you will find out in good time if you need to do anything.
You can read about the background to the procurement and what it entails here: New procurement for telephony underway – landline telephones are being phased out
Preparatory work is being done in August and September, and we will provide more information soon.
Mac users: New version of Outlook
This information is only relevant for Mac (Apple) users who use Outlook as their email client on their computer. (iPhones are not affected.)
The new Outlook version 16.100 will eventually be the default version for email management and calendar functionality on all Mac computers. The update is done automatically, so you do not have to do anything to get the new Outlook. However, here are some tips that may be useful.
The benefits of the new Outlook:
- A faster, more stable programme
- Better support for digital collaboration with others
- A seamless user experience whether you are using a computer, mobile or tablet
Some features do not (yet) work in the new Outlook for Mac:
- AppleScript
- Import/export
- Public folders
Microsoft continuously releases new updates. Updates are automatic, so you don't have to keep track of them.
To see which version of Outlook you have on your Mac, open Outlook, then click Outlook in the menu bar (next to the Apple logo), then select About Outlook. The version information is then shown. If the number displayed is 16.100 or higher, you have the new Outlook.
NB: From mid-October, it will not be possible to switch back to the older version Legacy Outlook for Mac.
NB: If you use shared mailboxes, these will not automatically be included in the new Outlook and will have to be added afterwards.
