One of the three teaching staff representatives on the University Board, Lars Dahlin, is retiring and his place on the University Board therefore needs to be filled for the period 1 December 2025 to 30 April 2026. A by-election will be held.
Propose a candidate to the Electoral College, which can nominate representatives
- Only members of the Electoral College have the right to nominate teaching staff representatives for the University Board (the students do not participate in this process).
- All employees can propose a member of the teaching staff to serve on the University Board. This is done by contacting one of the members of the Electoral College.
- The nomination period is from 3 September to 22 September.
A nominee is to fulfil the following criteria:
A person who is eligible is a member of the teaching staff with research or artistic expertise, i.e. someone who has one of the following positions: postdoc, professor, visiting professor, adjunct professor, directly appointed professor, senior lecturer, adjunct senior lecturer or associate senior lecturer.
Other criteria for a nominee are:
- Strong roots in research and education at Lund University
- An understanding of the entire University’s operations
- A responsive and clear approach
- Experience of academic management assignments
The Board is the highest decision-making body of the University. According to the Higher Education Act, the Board is to “supervise all of the higher education institution’s operations and assume responsibility for the fulfilment of its mandate”. The University Board consists of the Vice-Chancellor, eight community representatives appointed by the Swedish Government, one of whom is chair of the Board, three members of the teaching staff and three students.

The Electoral College, composed of 48 members, is responsible for the process of appointing a Vice-Chancellor and deputy vice-chancellor. The College also appoints three teaching staff representatives to the University Board through an election and is responsible for any by-elections.
