It is soon time for total closures of the E22 and road 108

Traffic jam.

Major roadworks around Lund will soon affect commuting options for those who work in Lund but live outside the city. The road projects affect the E22 at the Lund Södra interchange and road 108 between Staffanstorp and Lund. At certain times there will be planned total road closures during the period 2025 to 2026.

To provide commuting staff members with support and information about what is happening and possible travel options, a website featuring a range of tips will be set up within the collaboration project Co Action, which consists of 25 employers in Lund. The site will include links to the Swedish Transport Administration and Skånetrafiken, which are principally responsible for roads and public transport. The information will be categorised according to where you are travelling from and the part of the campus you are travelling to.

It is a good idea to start thinking about your commuting plans now.

The closures are necessary in order to carry out work in a safe and efficient way, and will also mean that the construction period is shorter.

Over the weekend of 23-26 May there will be a total closure of the E22 between the Kronetorp N interchange and Gastelyckan interchange.

What action can you take?

General

  • Try out a new travel routine for a week to see if it works. Start now while the Sustainable Commuting competition is on
  • Combine different means of transport for the best commute instead of just using one the whole way. Be creative!
  • Combine commuting with exercise, cycle or walk the first or last stretch from the bus stop/station.

Motorists

  • Use Lund’s commuter car parks in Lund city centre or at the municipality border and take the bus, walk or rent a Lundahoj bike for the final stretch. Or find the nearest commuter car park to where you live and take the bus/train from there to Lund
  • To relieve congestion on the diversion routes during the closures and make things easier for yourself, try to travel before or after rush hour. This also applies to those who are not directly affected by the closures as the diversion routes will be busier
  • Car-share some days of the week either all or part of the way to a bus stop from where you can get all the way home or to a place where your bike is parked
  • Combine train/bus and bike. Use the Lundahoj bike rental system or have a bike parked at the station/bus stop. Find out more about Lundahoj.
  • If you have a shower at your workplace and like to jog, take the train/bus and run the last stretch

Cyclists

  • Keep an eye on the diversion routes in Lund and be alert and follow the signs that are set out along the cycle path to make things easy for you. If there are also roadworks in or close to your home area, you should check your municipality’s website
  • The cycle path from Staffanstorp to Lund will be improved in connection with the work on road 108 between May and September: Read more about cycle paths (in Swedish).

Public transport

  • Keep an eye on the Skånetrafiken website for information on diversions/timetable changes for buses/trains: Skanetrafiken.se (in Swedish).
  • If there are diversions/changes, combine public transport with walking and cycling
