Acquisition of educational qualifications and AI in teaching

The work on acquisition of educational qualifications has made good progress and you can follow developments via a new blog. A working group has produced support for teaching staff for how the topical AI tool ChatGPT can be handled, and you can now access their advice and tips.

Rachel Forsyth and Lena Christensen have been working on an extensive and important project since the autumn concerning the acquisition of educational qualifications (Pedagogisk Meritering) and teaching career paths. According to a decision by the Vice-Chancellor, the project is to “investigate and put forward proposals for how work on professional development in teaching and learning in higher education can be organised and coordinated at the University. In addition, the project is also to make proposals for how a cohesive path for acquiring educational qualifications could be structured and used at the University”. Work on the assignment has progressed well and the project managers are cooperating with several relevant units at the University in order to optimally integrate a teaching career path with other career development elements. Chat GPT is still hot news in the media and a working group at the University active since January has produced support material and arranged online seminars for all teaching staff members to provide tips and advice on how to relate to this AI tool in teaching, not least in examinations. The online seminars have been very well attended and it now appears as though the acute demand has subsided, as only a few people have registered for the last available seminars. The working group has concluded its work in this acute phase. However, some of those involved who are teaching staff members from several faculties at the University will continue to follow and examine the opportunities and challenges that ChatGPT and other AI tools entail.
