Get Copilot free of charge in 2026

A laptop on a desk.

All University employees can now apply for an M365 Copilot license via Lucat. The offer is primarily aimed at employees working in administration in the faculties and departments. The license (“paid version” of Copilot) will be free of charge throughout 2026.

Improve the efficiency of your work using AI

Using M365 Copilot, you get AI in your usual work tools – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. This means that you can, for example, create draft texts and presentations or analyse and structure the contents of a spreadsheet. The purpose is to make your daily duties easier and more efficient.

Examples of things you can do with Copilot

  • Prepare for a meeting: have Copilot summarise previous correspondence within a project so that you come to the meeting well prepared.
  • Let Copilot summarise the meeting, so that you can share with colleagues.

Guide in the Support Centre – how to apply in Lucat

Copilot is most effective at streamlining administrative tasks within the Microsoft Office suite. An AI solution for teaching staff and researchers will be procured; more information will be available soon.

Learn how to use Copilot through the courses on Kompetensportalen

To make the most of the possibilities offered by M365 Copilot, it is important to understand how the tool works. That is why Kompetensportalen is home to a course called “Nyfiken på Copilot” (Curious about Copilot).

The course brings together the videos that online education provider Moderskeppet has produced around the use of Copilot, and describes the differences to be aware of compared to our M365 Copilot environment at LU.

Quick help via Teams channel

For anyone looking for ongoing support, we are launching a Copilot hotline – a Teams channel that you can turn to during working hours whenever you need help with Copilot.

To begin with, the channel will be manned by the Ad hoc team. The hope is that it will eventually be a place where we help each other and share experiences, tips and ideas.

Workshops and drop-in help with AI

We are also planning to provide further support in the shape of workshops and drop-in Ai help sessions after the Christmas break. More information about this will be published in the new year.

Are you a Copilot whizz already?

We are also looking for Copilot ambassadors. Are you the person that colleagues often turn to with questions about AI? Do you have a particular interest in generative AI and like to be ahead of the curve? If so, you could be the right person for the task. If you are interested, speak to your line manager. They can nominate you via adhoc [at] rektor [dot] lu [dot] se (adhoc[at]rektor[dot]lu[dot]se).

If you have any questions, thoughts or suggestions about what help or support you need with Copilot, you are welcome to contact us at adhoc [at] rektor [dot] lu [dot] se (adhoc[at]rektor[dot]lu[dot]se)
