New composition for the Electoral College

door

The task of the Electoral College is to select academic staff representatives for the University Board and act as a collegial body in the recruitment and consultation process for a new Vice-Chancellor and deputy vice-chancellor. The election process has now been completed for members of the Electoral College regarding the term of office 2024-2027.

At the first constitutive meeting in April, Johan Östling, professor of History, was selected as the chair. Karin Broberg, professor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine was appointed vice-chair. Electoral College meetings take place once or twice per semester. However, prior to the election of the Vice-Chancellor and deputy vice-chancellor the frequency of meetings increases considerably.

In recent years, the Electoral College has also acted as a forum for discussions of a general overall academic nature. Among other things, the Electoral College has debated academic freedom, collegiality and campus development.
