Strong authentication is a way to log in that makes it more difficult for an unauthorised person to gain access to an IT service, for example by using both a password and a mobile app (such as Freja+). To protect the University against today’s increased threats, secure passwords alone are not enough, we also need strong authentication.
If you have not already obtained strong authentication, you can find links and instructions on the Staff Pages: Strong authentication
A few tips:
- The registration process is much faster if you use a Swedish passport or national ID, then you can obtain Freja+ directly.
- Test it out! Have you configured in the right way? Visit freja.it.lu.se and you will see Test Freja+. Click on Start test, and you will get the answer. (Applies to Freja+.): Freja+
- Contact the Service Desk if you have any questions, big or small: servicedesk [at] lu [dot] se (servicedesk[at]lu[dot]se).
Timetable for the IT services
The first IT service that will require strong authentication is Adato. This service is a sickness absence and rehabilitation tool that informs managers when an adaptation or rehabilitation case is to start. As of 2 April, strong authentication will be required to log in to Adato.
During the spring, work has been carried out to produce a list showing when the various university-wide IT services will require strong authentication. The list will be updated along the way. All users will be informed before strong authentication is switched on for each IT service.
You can find the list under: About IT services | Staff Pages.
It has not yet been decided exactly when strong authentication will be needed to use Outlook and email, but it will happen in the later phases, at the earliest in May.
