In 2024, purchases of organic coffee and tea for machines and brewing stood in percentage terms at 57% compared with 55% in 2023.

The percentage of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and tea was 40% in 2024 compared with 39% in 2023. The percentage of fresh milk and butter products, and powdered drinks increased somewhat from 42% in 2023 to 48% in 2024.

Even though the percentage has already increased to some extent, we all need to help out to increase it even more in order to deliver on our decision on sustainable food purchases and events and the University’s participation in Fairtrade City Lund.

As far as possible with regard to price and availability, primarily choose products that are organic or Fairtrade-labelled (from the Guide to sustainable food purchases and events).

Coffee, tea, sugar, milk and fruit juices are always to be organic or Fairtrade-labelled.

Fruit is to be organic or Fairtrade-labelled. An exception can be made for locally produced fruit from Skåne, such as apples, pears and plums, with an aim to reduce the climate impact of transport.

Regarding purchases for staff kitchens, small staff events etc. hot chocolate, cocoa, dairy products, beer and wine are also to be organic or Fairtrade-labelled.

The agreement catalogue has organic alternatives that can be selected the next time you order these goods. The percentage of organic fruit baskets continues to be high, 98% in 2024 compared with 100% in 2023.
