Celebrations on 30 April and 1 May 2024

It is soon time for the traditional celebrations on 30 April and 1 May, which as usual includes the donning of student caps, the students’ May Day speech to the Vice-Chancellor, and the singing in of spring in Lundagård by the male voice choir, Lund Student Singers.

Donning of student caps 

Time: 30 April: 17:20-18:00
Place: Tegnérsplatsen, Lundagård

On 30 April, the vice-president of Lund University Student Unions, Anton Silverbern, will give a speech to welcome spring and there will be songs from the female voice choir Bella Voce.

Students’ May Day speech to the Vice-Chancellor

Time: 1 May: 12:20
Place: University Square, Lundagård

On May Day, Lund University’s Vice-Chancellor will be evaluated by the president of Lund University Student Unions.
The students’ May Day speech to the Vice-Chancellor is preceded by a procession from AF Borgen to the Main University Building that includes the Lund University students’ massed standards, the Lund Student Singers and Lund University Student Unions.

There will then be a speech by the president of Lund University Student Unions, Linnea Landegren, followed by a speech by Lund University Vice-Chancellor Erik Renström.

The audience is welcome to listen to the speeches, songs by the Lund Student Singers and music by AMC Bleckhornen.
The students’ May Day speech to the Vice-Chancellor takes approximately one hour.

Lund Student Singers sing in spring

Time: 1 May: 18:00-19:00
Place: The steps of the Main University Building, Paradisgatan 2, Lund.

The Lund Student Singers traditionally sing in spring on the steps of the Main University Building.

The concert is broadcast live on television (SVT1).
