This is commissioned education
Competence training, further education and continuing professional development are only a few of the terms used in daily speech about commissioned education. It’s about courses and programmes that higher education institutions sell to people actively working in businesses, public authorities and organisations.
Commissioned education provides great opportunities
By engaging in commissioned education, you are disseminating research from the University and contributing to community development. It also gives you the opportunity to capture the rest of the world’s experiences and needs. The perspectives of external actors on research and teaching at Lund University contribute to continuously enhance the quality of our activities.
Taking on challenges through commissioned education is also a way to increase the activities at your department, which will not only provide new experience but also improved financial conditions for you and your colleagues’ research and regular teaching activities.

Types of commissioned education
Commissioned education can be run in various ways. We offer courses and programmes from Lund University’s general range of courses/programmes, and completely tailored ones. The length of the course/programme can be anything from an hour to three years, and teaching staff will often have the opportunity to travel outside Lund, many times also outside Sweden. That way you contribute to the internationalisation of the University.
A large part of the commissioned education consists of open courses and programmes. These are developed specifically for people who work in businesses, public authorities and organisations, and they are compiled in a separate course catalogue, see below.
