The University will fly the flag for IDAHOT Day on 17 May

Pride flag flying in the wind.

On 17 May, Lund University will raise the rainbow flag on several buildings around the University. The flag-raising is to highlight IDAHOT (International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia) and the violence and discrimination that LGBTQIA persons are subjected to worldwide.

“It is important that we mark this day to remind us that human rights and freedoms are not a given everywhere, but something that needs to be protected. There are still threats, hatred and harassment of people because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Lund University raises the flag on 17 May to highlight all people’s right to live in a society free from homophobia, biphobia and transphobia,” says Jimmie Kristensson, pro vice-chancellor for communication, integrity and character.
