The University has a vision of creating a knowledge environment with modern and developed opportunities for teaching, research and external engagement at Brunnshög in Science Village (SV). In spring 2019 the then vice-chancellor, Torbjörn von Schantz, appointed a project group for the initial work on establishment of activities in SV.
The final report on the assignment was presented to the University Board in April and will form the basis for continuing work. From an initially cool reception, the Brunnshög establishment project is now garnering greater and more extensive enthusiasm from the organisation.
The assignment includes communication, practical planning, production of documentation for premises and construction planning in cooperation with LU Estates and analysis of the financial conditions and needs for the establishment.
This complex and extensive work will take a few years, but through close collaboration and cooperation, the University can achieve its vision of interacting environments, renewal of the University, research progress for many, interdisciplinary strength, new study programmes, inspiring study environments and a rich student life throughout the campus.
The office will open at IKDC on 1 July and will be led by Professor Eva Åkesson, who was previously deputy vice-chancellor at Lund University and the former vice-chancellor of Uppsala University.
