For a time last autumn, the pandemic restrictions were eased and people started to travel again. Some employees made the most of the opportunity. As shown in the adjacent diagram, business travel rose dramatically in November 2021 compared with November 2020.
When the omicron variant made its appearance, the rules were tightened again. Business travel has therefore probably dropped once more since last November.
Despite the easing of restrictions last autumn, the diagram also shows that the number of flights and train tickets booked in November 2021, and their associated costs, ‟only” amounted to around half of those for November in the two years preceding the pandemic. The only organisational unit that stands out for its increased costs for air travel in November 2021 is MAX IV.
The figures are based on data produced by the University through the Egencia travel agency; they include all faculties as well as MAX IV.
