A lot is happening in the area of retail and logistics, developments that are placing new demands on the sector. It is therefore especially pleasing that a new interdisciplinary centre will meet these new challenges with a focus on sustainability, digitalisation and working life changes. The centre will build upon existing education and research at the University and Campus Helsingborg, and we will also take advantage of the unique aspects of the local area.
At present, there are around 500 Swedish and international students on the study programmes in retail, logistics and sustainability at Campus Helsingborg. Establishment of the centre means that the conditions for a one-year Master’s programme will be further examined. There is also an intention for international and Swedish professionals to be offered tailored courses and programmes.
There are currently two interdisciplinary research centres and a research team in retail and logistics at Campus Helsingborg. The idea is that these groups will be integrated into REAL and that projects and activities can thus be coordinated and increased.
The establishment of REAL is in full swing and a director is to be recruited. A plan for the organisation and continued work has been drawn up by a working group with representatives from the Faculty of Engineering (LTH), Faculty of Social Sciences and the Lund University School of Economics and Management. I look forward to seeing what may result from REAL and I also see the establishment as a first step towards a clearer profile of the University’s activities at Campus Helsingborg
